Today is all about taking our boat out onto the lake to visit the wonderful little spots around Lake Como. Lake Como is the deepest lakes in Italy. I am hoping today that at some point we see Lario – the lake monster😈😈.

ah yes not that kind of boat – I wish …

Our first stop is Bellagio. Just as described, it is an exquisite place with a wonderful waterfront promenade. We sat and had coffee and a pastry there.

The beautiful streets and fabulous shops make this a wonderful place to stop. Apparently, and not surprisingly, Bellagio has been the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. This has been the case for a very long time. Back in the day Pliny the Younger talked about his time in Bellagio. In the first century AD he talked about spending time hunting and fishing, while studying in between. He was fortunate enough to own a couple of villas in beautiful Bellagio.

So far no famous sightings but we its still early in the day.

This Grand Hotel has been the perfect location for many Hollywood films over the years. A load of very famous people have stayed in this wonderful hotel. I can imagine it is so fab but George lives around here somewhere doesn’t he?
Next stop Lenno so that we can visit Villa Balbianello. The reason for our interest is that a couple of movies have been filmed here. Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale. If you have seen either of these films you will remember the beautifully terraced gardens and structure. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get even close. It is wise to pre book tickets and make it your first destination (not arriving after midday).

Although disappointed in not getting up close and personal with the Villa, Lenno didn’t disappoint. It is a small village with less than 2,000 people living there. It is so picturesque and sells a fab gelato.

We jump back on the ferry, for our final destination today before we head back to Como. The ferry timetable is really the driver for how much village hopping you can do. We’ve made a concerted effort to spend a couple of hours at each spot.
We now head to Menaggio. I must say I really loved Menaggio. It has a population of about 3,200 people, is relaxed and beautiful. I would really love to come back here and stay for a few days.

A great bakery that made a wicked hot chocolate. There was a busker playing wonderful old tracks. It was a perfect last stop for our day village hopping!

We jumped back on the ferry. We felt a little sad we hadn’t brushed up against any Hollywood stars. Yes, you George ! But thrilled that we had the chance to visit these wonderful little villages.
Tonight is our last night in Como and we go to a wonderful restaurant called Popup. The food was sensational and service fantastic.

We’ve loved you Como 💗💗💗
