It is sad to be saying farewell to Amsterdam. Our three days are up and we are all a bit forlorn, we have really loved our time here. After a short train ride, we arrive in beautiful Brussels for three days, we can’t wait!
I asked google for some fun facts about Brussels:
Fun fact 1: Brussels Airport is the worlds largest chocolate selling point
- this doesn’t surprise me there are chocolate stores everywhere, they are hard to resist
- We can confirm that not only is there a lot of chocolate it is delicious🍫

Fun fact 2: Brussels has 138 restaurants per square mile
- the food is exceptional, we certainly ate very well here in Brussels

Nuetnigenough is described as a true Belgian dining experience. The sign says no reservations will be taken and they are true to their word. In fact while we were eating there (on our second attempt) a number of fellow tourists attempting to make reservations were a bit frustrated about this. Really, you’re on holiday what a waste of energy being cross about rules that apply to everyone, you aren’t special 🤣. Our first night in Brussels we were unsuccessful in securing a table here. So we came back a couple of nights later at about 5.45pm and had a hearty and delightful meal. Its a tiny little place that would be incredibly cozy in winter. While we were sitting there eating I thought this experience is going to one of those you remember forever.
We really loved both of these restaurants.

And of course potatoes and what can made from them! For some of our little contingent these chippies made them very happy.🍟🍟
Fun fact 3: Galeries Royales Saint – Hubert is the oldest shopping arcade in Europe
- we walked through here and no purchases were made (sadly) but boy we did some browsing
- it is a lovely strip of high end shops

Fun fact 4: Brussels is known as the capital of Europe
- it is certainly a wonderful representative of Europe. It has old world charm with a new age edge.
- Brussels is the seat of the EU. As well as its significance as a centre of international governance and business.

The Houses of Parliament, these very cool pedestrian crossings are everywhere🌈🌈.
Fun fact 5.there are three official languages in Belgium
- In Brussels people speak French and Flemish Dutch. In other parts of the country people also speak German.
- like all European cities tolerate those of us who only speak English (thank goodness).
We are really excited to explore this beautiful city and its surrounds.
