It is absolutely amazing to be here in Cardiff for two nights. We are staying in a really comfortable three bedroom house which is within walking distance of town as well as Cardiffs two big sporting venues the Principality (previously known as Millennium) Stadium and the Cardiff City Stadium.
For us three days, two nights are about right for a stay here. There is lots to see and it’s one of those places you can wander around really easily, enjoy great food and simply be.
Some things about this place from Dr Google with some photographic supporting evidence.
🏴Cardiff is one of the smallest and newest capital cities in Europe.
It is very easy to get around Cardiff, lots of footpaths and great signage. It only became capital of Wales in 1955.

🏴It is Britain’s wettest city.
We were so lucky with the weather no rain at all

🏴Ronald Dahl and Shirley Bassey are two famous Cardiffians and I know there are a host of footballers that were born here in Cardiff.
The city has an edgy creative feel to it which I am sure would help inspire. There is an organisation called Creative Cardiff who wants to:
Delivering a vision of Cardiff as a connected, collaborative and inclusive capital of creativity.

🏴Cardiff’s Bute Park is the largest urban park in Wales
And it’s really lovely, it sits alongside Cardiff Castle and has lots of lovely places to simply sit and watch the world go by. It’s an amazing 56 hectares right in the middle of the city.

🏴 Cardiff once had an official beer taster
In Medieval Cardiff there was a beer/ale tester. The role was all about making sure that Alex and beers were of good quality.
You shall well and truely and without partiality execute the Office of Ale Taster in this Town and shall take diligent care that all Brewers and Victuallers in town shall brew and expose to sale good and wholesome ale and beer for man’s body”
Hmmm… I think I know a few people who would love for this job to be reinstated.

🏴 The Royal Mint is here in Cardiff
You can do a great tour of the facilities. The Mint is a little way out of town, but with a sat nav it’s easy to get to. We were lucky enough to be there only two on our tour and so the very lovely Katie was very happy to answer lots of Aussie related questions. 🦘

Cardiff is a lovely place to visit and I’d like to spend some more time in Wales. Two nights was about right for us. We did lots of walking and staying in a house was great as we had room to spread out a bit and it meant that we had two nights of home cooking.
Tomorrow we are heading back towards London for our last week away.
