The plan for today was for another day trip this time to Cannes for only 7€20. Why Cannes, isn’t the only time to go there during the Film Festival, when there is a very slim chance of running into the rich and the famous? Ah no, the Jewel of the French Riviera (Cannes) is known to be very beautiful and glamorous and has exquisite sandy public beaches and is renowned as an awesome place to visit all the time. And, for me, the idea of dipping my foot (and the rest of me) into the Mediterranean is oh so very appealing. Alas, because of my Achilles surgery the rocky beaches we’ve had throughout our trip have meant that while the rest of the crew have had heaps of opportunities to swim (every day, often more than once) I haven’t been able to.
Queue sad music 🎵 🎶 so, because of the heatwave here in Europe some train tracks aren’t coping and as a result train stations like ours are being closed unexpectedly or trains delayed significantly. In our case as we were waiting to board a train to Cannes they let us know that the station was closing for four hours and not reopening until mid afternoon.
What to do? Isaac was very keen on a trip to Cannes, and so off he went once station reopened. For the rest of us it was a quiet day, walking through markets, packing for the trip home and hitting a lovely spot looking over the boardwalk for early happy hour.

We’ve had a fantastic time here in Nice with Nick, Hannah and Isaac. The location was SO good and our accommodation here for the first few nights was really great. Having three rooms out into our own private courtyard was really excellent. It is sad to be saying au revoir as Nick and Hannah head home to Australia. Steve, Isaac and I are on our way to Montpellier and then Marseille.
