For our final full day in Croatia we decided to travel by bus to the beautiful Krka National Park. The bus trip took just over an hour and then we had about four and a half hours to explore yet another beautiful part of Croatia. The simplest way to get there is by booking through a tourist company we used Split Walking Tours. Our 8.15 meeting point very close to where we are staying, less than five minutes at the Golden Gate which we visited yesterday. The tour wasn’t expensive and provided us with an opportunity to swim and hike in the Park. I think these two factors were the reason that of the 80 people on the two buses there were only six of us who weren’t in the midst of some sort of gap year…. yep we were surrounded by a bevy of beautiful twenty somethings. Our buses took us to Skardin and then we cruised (by ferry) towards the park. On our entry ticket we were advised that in the National Park we couldn’t: pick flowers, chase birds, litter, camp, light fires, scuba dive ( I think ) but we could bring our puppies. A lot of people do travel with their dogs in Croatia which is kind of nice but slightly off putting in restaurants and cafes 😀. The other thing I would say is that the world of work health and safety is miles away, a weird phenomenon that is yet to catch on here – which is kind of nice as it means that people are responsible for their own stupidity how refreshing is that, yep I know I know it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

But back to this gorgeous National Park… there were so many people arriving on so many ferries all through the day and given my comment above work health and safety the entry to the swimming hole was congested and tricky to get into, on top of this there are lots of pointy and slippery (funny that) rocks which do make it difficult for those of us who are balance challenged. But if you are young and/or game (Steve and Dave) this is a great place to swim.

It is also a wonderful National Park to walk around. There is a two kilometre trail that you can follow that takes you over travertine (limestone) barriers, past waterfalls and right along the way there is picturesque vegetation.

It was a wonderful light way to spend our last day in Croatia, a fab place for a holiday. We will be back 🇭🇷.
